13 Days Best of Kenya and Tanzania Combined Group Wildlife Safari

Your guide meets you at the airport or your hotel for breakfast and a full briefing on the safari. The drive southwest stops at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint and for lunch in Narok, and an afternoon game drive follows your arrival at the reserve. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

A full day of game viewing with a picnic lunch. Rolling grassland and an extensive track network make the Mara the most reliable place in Kenya for close big cat encounters. Lunch at Hippo Pool, watching for hippo and crocodile. Dinner and overnight at the camp or lodge.

An early morning balloon flight can be arranged at additional cost.

After breakfast there is the option of visiting a nearby Maasai village for an additional fee. The drive then continues north to Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving in time for dinner and overnight.

An early breakfast, then a game drive in the park. Nakuru was established to protect endangered species and holds both black and white rhino, along with colobus monkey, leopard, Rothschild’s giraffe and a range of plains antelope; around 400 bird species have been recorded here. Late afternoon you drive on to Naivasha for dinner and overnight.

An early start and a short drive to Hell’s Gate for registration. You can cycle or drive; this is one of the few parks in Kenya where walking among the wildlife is permitted. Olkaria and Hobley’s, two extinct volcanoes, sit within the park, along with obsidian left by cooled lava. The gorge runs between red cliffs past the volcanic plugs known as Fischer’s Tower and Central Tower, and a smaller gorge to the south drops to hot springs. Hot lunch on the road, then the long drive south to Amboseli, arriving in the evening for dinner and overnight.

A full day of game drives, with picnic lunches carried so you can stay out. The swamps draw elephant and hippo in numbers, plains game and antelope work the drier ground, and the birdlife is heavy. Kilimanjaro shows itself on clear days, usually early or late. Dinner and overnight at the lodge or camp.

You leave Amboseli this morning for the Namanga crossing, stopping for lunch along the way. After clearing immigration the road continues to Arusha, arriving in the afternoon to check in.

After breakfast you depart for Lake Manyara with lunch en route, arriving for an afternoon game drive. The park is known for lions that rest in the acacia branches and for the flamingo flocks on the lake. Dinner and overnight at the lodge or campsite.

A game drive on the way out, then the climb towards Ngorongoro with lunch en route. You reach the conservation area in the afternoon and get your first look down into the caldera from the rim. Dinner and overnight at camp or lodge.

The descent is around 600 metres to the crater floor, where you spend the morning. Picnic lunch below, then back up to the rim and on to the Serengeti, arriving in the evening for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast you leave for Tarangire, arriving in time for lunch. The afternoon game drive takes in a park most circuits skip: dense elephant herds, the Tarangire River drawing animals in through the dry season, and baobabs that are centuries old. Dinner and overnight at your lodge or campsite.

A final morning game drive in Tarangire, then the drive to Arusha with lunch en route. You check into your hotel for dinner and overnight, closing the Tanzanian leg.

After breakfast you are collected for the morning shuttle to Nairobi, arriving in the afternoon and finishing with a drop at your hotel or the airport.
