WHERE ANCIENT BAOBABS MEET ELEPHANT HERDS

Tarangire National Park protects one of Africa’s largest elephant populations, gathered beneath ancient baobab trees along the life-giving Tarangire River in northern Tanzania.

Tanzania's Quiet Elephant Stronghold

Inside Tarangire National Park, Tanzania

Tarangire National Park sits in Tanzania’s Manyara Region, named for the Tarangire River that keeps wildlife alive through the long dry season. Ancient baobab trees and golden grassland give the park one of the most distinctive landscapes on the northern circuit.

Through the dry months, Tarangire National Park holds one of Africa’s largest elephant concentrations, alongside large herds of buffalo, zebra and wildebeest pulled toward the river. Quieter than the Serengeti, it offers a more intimate, less crowded safari.
