An optional visit to a Maasai homestead this morning, paid at the village, before the drive north through the Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru. You arrive in time for dinner and overnight at your hotel or lodge.

An early breakfast, then a game drive through the park, which holds black and white rhino, colobus monkey, leopard, Rothschild’s giraffe and a heavy concentration of birds. The drive south to Amboseli takes most of the day with lunch en route; you arrive in the evening for dinner and overnight at camp or lodge.

A full day of game drives with a picnic lunch. The park’s swamps are fed from Kilimanjaro and stay wet year round, which is why the elephants and hippo stay put; plains game, antelope and a long list of birds use them too. On a clear morning or evening the summit shows itself above the cloud. Dinner and overnight at camp.

After breakfast the drive runs to Namanga with lunch on the way. Immigration formalities at the border, then on to Arusha, arriving during the day. Your hotel is booked on bed and breakfast, so dinner tonight is your own.

You meet the rest of your group at the hotel this morning and set off for the Serengeti with lunch en route, arriving for an afternoon game drive. The park earns its reputation outside migration season as well as during it: buffalo, giraffe, eland, impala, Grant’s gazelle, lion, cheetah, leopard and jackal are all resident. Dinner and overnight at the lodge or camp.

A final morning game drive on the plains before the road east to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, lunch served along the way. You reach the rim of the caldera by evening for dinner and overnight.

Down to the crater floor for the morning, across grassland and swamp inside one of the most concentrated wildlife arenas in Africa. Picnic lunch within the crater, then the climb back to the rim and on to Arusha, where your hotel is booked on bed and breakfast.

You are collected from your hotel for the shuttle north across the border, reaching Nairobi in the afternoon. Drop-off at your hotel or the airport, whichever suits your onward plans.
