Paradise Lost sits at Kiambu on the northern edge of Nairobi, fifty-four green acres built around a prehistoric cave system and a waterfall. The caves were used as a hideout by Mau Mau fighters during the independence struggle, and the guided walk takes you through the chambers and out along a path that runs behind the falling water.
The rest of the site is a boating lake, camel and horse riding, fishing, nature trails, a butterfly area and picnic lawns under indigenous trees. This is a relaxed half day rather than a wildlife experience, and it is where Nairobi families go at weekends. Worth choosing if you want somewhere green without a long drive. Entrance fees, transfers, drinking water and a guide are included.
