Nairobi was a swamp with a railway siding on it in 1899. It is now the largest city in East Africa, and this day is the quickest way to understand how that happened. The morning covers the centre: the Kenyatta International Convention Centre, Parliament, the Jamia Mosque, the covered City Market, and Uhuru Gardens, where independence was declared in 1963.
The afternoon moves out to Museum Hill and then into the Langata and Karen suburbs, and this is where you decide what you actually want. The Giraffe Centre, the Karen Blixen Museum, Bomas of Kenya, the Railway Museum and Kazuri Beads are all options, and your guide will tell you honestly what fits in the time left. It is the most flexible day we run, and the most useful one to do before you head out on safari rather than after. Entrance fees, transfers, drinking water and a guide are included.
