Three stops within a few kilometres of each other, and three completely different experiences. You start at the Karen Blixen Museum, the farmhouse where Out of Africa was written, then move on to the Giraffe Centre and its raised platform, where the endangered Rothschild’s giraffes will take pellets straight from your hand.
The last stop is Kazuri Beads, a workshop that began in 1975 with two women and now employs several hundred, most of them single mothers, hand-rolling and hand-painting ceramic beads and pottery. You can follow the whole process from raw clay to finished jewellery and buy at the factory price. Literature, wildlife and a social enterprise that genuinely works, in a single day. All entrance fees, transfers, drinking water and a guide are included.
